The Question

A blog (a contraction of the term "web log")[1] is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. - Wikipedia

Blogging, in essence, is conceptually ideal because it allows an individual to give unadulterated commentary to current events and personal issues as well as provide a medium for one's own introspection.

Yet we must ask ourselves, is it wise to share these views with the rest of the world?

To blog, or not to blog,

I once thought that blogging was one of the most arrogant things ever created. To me, it was for people who were without shame, people who felt their personal problems should be shared and widely publicized to anybody who, by chance, clicked on their blog. As I read more and more of my peer's blogs, I found that people had two things in common: an online persona and a real life personality.

Blogs give you the ability to show the world the person who you want to be, who you ought to be, who you perceive yourself to be. But who YOU are, comes from how you act in the real world. You are accountable for your actions, and I think in that sense, some people forget to act accordingly to their own set standards.

To blog, or not to blog

As you probably have guessed, I have decided to take on blogging (at least for the meantime), I recently found inspiration in a blog that I came across which motivated me to write. I came across the blog randomly and do not know this individual personally. His blog referred to "investing time wisely"

Case 3: Writing a blog
You invest time, not much energy, and no money into this blog. What do you gain? Improved writing skills, experience organizing thoughts logically and concisely, a relief of stress and a feeling of relaxation, freedom of mind and thoughts, permanence and memory of various ideas that may be fleeting and conditional, and creativity in expressing oneself. If other people read the blog, you succeed in sharing your beliefs and thoughts with others. If the entries in this blog have any value to any one else or society, then both parties may benefit as well.

So for now I will write, for me, and no one else. I hope to look back from here on out and see how much I have changed as an individual.

Best,

Steve
